Gerda Lynggaard is a renowned Danish jewellery artist who, for more than 50 years, has made her mark with innovative and boundary-pushing work in the field of jewellery design.

She trained at the Copenhagen School of Goldsmiths and subsequently undertook further training in both the USA and Germany. Her artistic approach is described as a balance between pure avant-garde and a classical foundation, in which she combines "raw elegance" with poetic expression.

The company Monies was founded by Gerda Lynggaard and her husband, Nikolai Monies, in 1973. The firm is world-renowned for its sculptural jewellery, which challenges traditional notions of what jewellery can be and what materials it can be made from.

Their jewelry is known for being bold and extravagant and has been shown on the catwalks of international fashion houses such as Chanel, Donna Karan and Christian Lacroix.
