Thor Selzer is known for his modern, minimalist style with clean lines and functionalist design. He was trained under goldsmith Ferdinand Antvorskov (1884–1977) in 1946.

In 1957 he established his own workshop, where he worked until his death in 1989.

Thor Selzer was also among the select group of artists who designed jewelry for the renowned firm Georg Jensen.

His works are included in several museum collections, including the Danish Museum of Decorative Art (Kunstindustrimuseet) in Copenhagen.
