David Andersen is a renowned Norwegian goldsmith and jeweler, best known for founding the jewelry company David-Andersen, which remains one of Norway's most prestigious jewelry houses today.
His designs quickly gained attention for their high craftsmanship, elegant design, and use of Norwegian motifs. He was especially known for creating jewelry and silverware that combined Nordic tradition with modern artistry.
After his death in 1901, his son Arthur Andersen took over the business, expanding it further and introducing enamel jewelry in the early 20th century — a style that became a hallmark of the David-Andersen brand. The company is still family-run today and continues to produce fine jewelry, silver pieces, and enamel work that reflect both tradition and contemporary design.
A characteristic style was the use of guilloché and basse-taille enamel, with shiny colours such as white, yellow, red and blue overlaid on gilt or sterling silver.
