DANISH MIDCENTURY STERLING SILVER PENDANT BY VOLMER BAHNER

ITEM NUMBER: M04-J02-06-01

Beautiful vintage pendant in sterling silver, designed and made by the famous Danish goldsmith Volmer Bahner in the mid-1900s.

The pendant is shaped like a drop attached with 5 butterflies with a white enamel.

Stamped V. Bahner, 925S.

It is in very good vintage condition with few signs of wear.

Bahner started his career as a sculptor, known for figures in bronze and ceramics. Some of his works are exhibited at design museums such as  the Danish Design Museum.

Later he moved towards silver and enamel jewelry, especially in what is characterized as guilloché enamel - a technique where patterns are engraved in the silver before the enamel is applied, which gives a shiny, deep effect.

In the period 1962–1988 he ran his own enamel jewelry company, registered as Volmer Bahner & Co., where he both designed and produced his modern, nature-inspired jewelry.

The styles designed by Bahner range from floral subjects such as calla lilies, butterflies, hearts and animals to simple, abstract Art Deco-inspired style.
