Gerd Bøgelund (1923-1987) was a renowned Danish ceramicist who had a remarkable career in Danish ceramic art. She was employed by Royal Copenhagen, Saxbo and Søholm.
Gerd Bøgelund was deeply inspired by nature, which was reflected in both her designs and the decorative patterns she engraved into her works. She created both mass-produced designs and highly individualised 'unique' pieces. Today, her works are highly sought after in the market for Danish Mid-Century Design.
She worked primarily in stoneware and was known for her expertise in applying textured decorations. Her works are often characterised by:
Engraved patterns with a dynamic interaction between form and glaze.
Deep reddish-brown and ochre-coloured crystalline glazes on varied surfaces that change colour and tone with the light.
